Objective: teachers spend over $1 billion per year in out-of-pocket money for classroom supplies. Given that DC.org project has been posted by teachers from over 75% of public and charter schools, could we extrapolate what it would take in supplies and dollars next year to fill this $1 billion funding gap?
Questions: a corollary is to look at gaps in supply and demand of materials per resource category (ex: books, basketballs, biology kits, etc)
Impact: quantifying actual classroom needs, like books, basketballs, manipulatives, chairs, etc
Data approaches: use taxonomy and data on the quantity and growth in resource needs to extrapolate, while controlling for geography
